Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill rightly predicted Odell Beckham Jr’s $10,927 fine for TD celebration

Tyreek Hill correctly predicted that the NFL would fine Odell Beckham Jr. The Baltimore Ravens wide receiver was penalized by the league for unsportsmanly conduct during their Week 10 game at M&T Stadium.

The Ravens took on AFC North rival the Cleveland Browns, looking to boost their chance of winning the division and making it to the playoffs. The veteran wide receiver has emerged as one of the prime targets for the Ravens in the past few games, raking up 10 receptions for 212 yards and two touchdowns.

However, a moment of madness, as per the NFL, has landed the three-time Pro Bowler in trouble. During the Browns game, he caught a 40-yard pass from Lamar Jackson to score a touchdown. While running toward the endzone, he threw the ‘peace’ sign in the year and finished it off with an elaborate dance skit. Later, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero announced that Odell Beckham Jr. was fined $10,927 for the gesture.

However, before the fine was levied, Tyreek Hill, who has had his fair share of run-ins with the league regarding celebrations, already knew what was coming for the Ravens WR. The Miami Dolphins wide receiver, under a post of OBJ’s celebration, had shared on X, 

Yeah, they fining people for that buddy ?.

Hill was fined $10,000 in 2022 for throwing a peace sign after scoring a 64-yard touchdown for the Chiefs in the divisional final win over the Bills. He was recently sent a warning for a Summersault celebration on week 7.

This was not the first fine of the season for Odell Beckham Jr.

Since the start of the season, there have been several players who have been slapped with hefty fines. Falcons fullback Keith Smith receiving a $87,418 fine became a sort of debacle early on.

It has been tough, especially for the defenders who are getting the chop just by breathing on another player. But OBJ is one of those who have been fined multiple times this season. 

While the celebration may be a point of contention, he probably deserved the first one. Well, he got into a brawl with Titans defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons last month. Both went at each other at the end of a play in the second quarter, getting a $11,473 fine. It did not end there; the league slapped an extra $21,844 for troubles after the game.
