Bill Belichick is currently having one of the worst seasons of his career as the head coach of the New England Patriots. The six-time Super Bowl champions currently have an abysmal record of 1-4 and are looking like the worst team in the entire league. The thing is they are not just losing but they have gotten humiliated on the football field in the last two weeks. Even former United States President Donald Trump took notice of New England’s struggle in the ongoing season.
During a recent rally in New England, former US President and the potential 2024 Republican party candidate Donald Trump used a Gridiron analogy to clown his potential election opponent and the current US President Joe Biden.
Trump compared a meeting between Biden and China’s President Xi Jinping to a showdown between his high school football team and a good NFL team. Trump then said that he would like to refer to the Patriots as the good NFL team but currently, New England doesn’t fit in that slot.
“I’d love to say the Patriots. (Belichick’s) a great guy, great coach,” Trump said, as seen in a video from WBTS. “But they’re having a bit of a hard time. What’s going on with the Patriots, huh?”
The billionaire then went on to compliment Belichick and said that the veteran head coach could turn around the season soon. He still noted how the beatdown on Sunday by the New Orleans Saints was just too bad. “He is, he’s a great coach. He’ll figure it out somehow,” Trump said. “He’s going to figure it out, But that was not a good game last night, was it?” The 77-year-old former US President Donald Trump is an old friend of the Patriots owner Robert Kraft and used to have a good relationship with the former New England quarterback Tom Brady.

Bill Belichick and the Patriots were humiliated by the Saints
The game Donald Trump referred to in his rally was the Patriots’ week 5 game against the Saints that took place on Sunday. Bill Belichick and the Patriots were humiliated by Saints at the Gillette Stadium in front of the home crowd.

The Pats couldn’t even score a field goal against the New Orleans-based football team. In the end, the Pats suffered a 34-0 loss and fell to 1-4 in the 2023 NFL season. Mac Jones, the franchise QB of the Patriots threw 2 interceptions in the game and was benched for a second straight game.
Belichick and the Pats have been outscored 72-3 by their opponents in the last 2 games. Now, they will look to bounce back with a victory against the Las Vegas Raiders, who they are set to face on Sunday in their week 6 matchup.
