“Trying to fix the BROKEN”: Duane Brown signed by New York Jets following Mekhi Becton injury
Duane Brown
When Jets’ Mekhi Becton fractured his knee cap and was ruled out for the season, Jets needed some reinforcement to protect their franchise Quarterback Zac Wilson. Jets’ search for the same came to an end recently when they made an important move and signed a veteran.
Jets signed 5 time Pro Bowler Duane Brown to a 2 year contract worth $22 million per senior NFL reporter Ian Rapaport. Brown until last year was with the Seattle Seahawks and had visited the Jets on Saturday before Becton suffered an avulsion fracture in his kneecap on Monday. With Becton’s unexpected injury Brown’s signing became a necessity for the Jets.

Adjustments needed after Jets sign Duane Brown
Brown has been at left tackle for his entire pro career while Becton was a right tackle and the left tackle position was commanded by Noah Fant, now Fant will possibly move to right and Brown will take his place on the left. Before being signed Brown was the No. 14 ranked player — and top remaining offensive lineman — on NFL.com’s list of top 101 free agents.
Brown will be looking to bounce back after a bad season where he allowed 8 sacks the most since his rookie season, the Jets hope that is the case as Wilson is their 2nd 1st round QB in the last 5 years with Sam Darnold being the first.
Quarterback’s protection and safety is of utmost importance for the Jets. Brown remains a solid blindside blocker with the size to swallow up edge rushers.
