Derrick Henry is widely considered to be the best running back in the league right now. Selected in the second round of the 2016 NFL draft by the Tennessee Titans, Henry has been an absolute beast on the field running down defenses every year since.

It didn’t take long for Henry to be crowned ‘King’. The star running back had his breakout season in 2018 when he rushed for 1059 yards and 12 touchdowns but this was just the calm before the storm. In 2019, King Henry was the NFL rushing yards and rushing touchdowns leader.

Derrick Henry even managed to top that in the following season as he became the eighth running back in the history of the NFL to rush for 2000 yards in a single season. The 6’3″ beast rushed for 2027 yards and 17 touchdowns earning himself the 2020 Associated Press NFL Offensive Player of the Year.

AJ Brown tries to recruit Derrick Henry to Philly

Derrick Henry along with wide receiver AJ Brown used to be a complete nightmare for defenses as they would tear through the coverage to get the first downs and make it to the endzone when they were together for the Titans. However, Brown joined the Philadelphia Eagles in 2022 leaving Henry in Tennessee. Now, there are rumors spreading like wildfire that King Henry might be the newest addition to the Eagles’ already formidable offense.

CBS’ The Talk and NBC American Ninja Warrior host Akbar Gbaja-Biamila tweeted on Saturday that Derrick Henry is being traded to the Eagles. Seeing this tweet made AJ Brown the happiest man on Earth and he replied, “Nobody has #22. Make it happen if it’s possible.”

There has been absolutely no indication that the 29-year-old running back is on the trade block. He is however serving out his final year on the contract with a base salary of $10.5 million. The Eagles currently have Rashaad Penny as their RB1 so maybe if and that’s a big if, Henry is available, they might make a move to add him to the roster.

Eagles fans were on cloud nine at the prospect of having Derrick Henry in the backfield. Their reactions on Twitter completely sum up their love for the running back and seeing him back with his former teammate AJ Brown.

Derrick Henry is still one of the best running backs despite what some might say. In 2022, he rushed for 1538 yards and 13 touchdowns and ranked 4th overall among running backs in the league per NFL.com. There is hardly any chance that the Titans let go of him but if they do then we already know which team might make a move on him!
