“I don’t apologize for having fun,” Eagles HC Nick Sirianni believes people are blowing things out of proportion for expressing himself on the sidelines

Head coaches in the NFL have always been more than 50 years old or older. They are always stoic, wear loose and baggy clothes, and never talk more than necessary. They are basically straight shooters. However, that trend is slowly starting to change and more teams are hiring younger head coaches and it started with Kyle Shanahan and Sean McVay.
These guys are more expressive and aren’t afraid of showing their emotions on the sidelines or in the locker room. The best example of this is Detroit Lions’ head coach Dan Campbell, who is leading the team with passion and connecting with the players on a base level.
Philadelphia Eagles new head coach Nick Sirianni has also joined this new group of young coaches in the NFL and, boy, he doesn’t shy away from expressing himself. He is the exact opposite of head coaches in the NFL who are, to be honest, quite boring. Sirianni is fun, obnoxious, and most of all, he is genuine.
Nick Sirianni says he won’t hide his emotions on the field
Nick Sirianni had a quite tumbling start to his head coaching career in the league. He fumbled a lot and wasn’t coherent about his plans for the Eagles. He even mispronounced the names of his bosses in his introductory press conference back in 2021. Nick was ridiculed, made fun of, and everyone said that he wouldn’t last more than one season in Philadelphia.
From that embarrassment of an interview, Nick Sirianni has come a long way. He was a good sport about all the criticism and showed everyone he was hired to lead the team to the Super Bowl and not to entertain at press conferences. In his second year as the head coach, Sirianni has been a total blast. He cursed Indianapolis Colts fans for bad-mouthing his mentor Frank Reich, celebrated like a teenager on drugs after a win on the sideline, and hogged the sideline TV as the Eagles were giving a beating to the New York Giants in the divisional playoffs.
Nick Sirianni said via the Washington Post that he loves being himself on the sidelines. “I don’t apologize for having fun,” Sirianni said. “This is too hard not to have fun, and I do this because I love it. I chose this profession because I love it. It is a little bit blown out of proportion with all of those things. I loved playing football, and I love coaching it. I’m not going to hide my emotions at any point.”
It’s really great that Nick Sirianni won’t change because he represents a new change that coaches too can be as expressive as the players. It is fun to watch a coach who is as happy and sad with the result of the game as the rest of the team and not just a robot who only cares about the end result. It’ll be interesting to see Sirianni in the Super Bowl with his emotions running high for the entire 60 minutes!
