In his 13-year pro football career and in four previous attempts Jason Kelce faced his brother Travis Kelce, but was yet to beat him. That’s probably why the 35-year-old wanted the win so badly that he even went as far as to disagree with Jalen Hurts‘, audible during the game.

Being a veteran and arguably one of the best centers in NFL history, Jason Kelce has every leverage to intervene if it benefits the Eagles. He probably realized that his quarterback’s call might backfire on a second-and-3 play.

However, Troy Aikman, who was covering the game from the commentator booth, said Kelce could have shaken his head to confuse the Kansas City Chiefs defense. Whether that’s legit or not, Hurts called off the play.

Then the All-Pro defenders pointed their left hand at running back D’Andre Swift, who switched corners. Following the snap, Kelce even blocked Chiefs safety Justin Reid, which allowed them a 17-yard gain.

A short clip of the exchange made its way to X (formerly Twitter), where netizens tried to imagine what transpired between Kelce and Hurts that forced them to alter their move. While some praised the big defender for being a great leader, his QB received a bit of trolling.

Few pointed out that if it wasn’t for the Kelce, then Hurts would not win many games. “If kelce retires, Jalen hurts might be serving burgers,” someone commented.

That drive ended with a touchdown from Swift. It tied the score at 7-7. Philadelphia Eagles gained a total of 79 yards because of the judgment call Jason Kelce made. It goes to show that an experienced head can do wonders for the team. More so when they are in the thick of it, right near the line of scrimmage.

The Eagles managed to snatch victory in the end. Chiefs wide receiver Marquez Valdes Scantling dropped a crucial catch near the Eagles end zone, which could have handed them their eighth win in 2023. Instead, it was their third loss of the season.

Hurts ended the game with 150 yards through the air, 12 carries for 29 yards, and two touchdowns on the night. The older Kelce finally recorded a win over his younger brother.
