Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles suffered a brutal 35-38 loss against the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl on Sunday. One particular moment from the game caught many people’s attention and caused quite a controversy. And now, the Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie joined the Eagles’ fans and the Chiefs haters in taking a jab at the officials for that controversial penalty. But since he’s an owner, he did it in a subtle way.

The much-anticipated event of the year didn’t disappoint the fans as they got to see two evenly-matched teams going toe-to-toe at the highest level. As most people expected, the game quickly turned into a slugfest as both teams managed to score a touchdown in their opening drive. That set the tone for the rest of the evening, and both offenses kept at it the entire game.

It should be noted that the Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes and the Eagles QB Jalen Hurts finished no.1 and no.2 in the MVP voting, respectively. Both quarterbacks raised to the occasion and delivered a masterful performance. However, there could be only one winner in sports and the Kansas City Chiefs proved to be the better team and won the game.

The fans, however, would never accept their team’s loss and will always somehow blame the refs for it. But this time, the Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie seemingly took a shot at the officials for the Eagles’ Super Bowl loss.

During the final minutes of the game, the score was tied at 35 a piece and the Chiefs faced a third down and failed to convert it. However, the refs called a holding penalty on the Eagles’ DB James Bradberry, which gave Chiefs the first down and eventually led to them running out the clock and winning the game on a last-minute field goal.

If the holding penalty was not called, the Chiefs would’ve settled for a field goal and the Eagles would’ve got the ball back with a chance to tie or take the lead with more than 2 minutes left in the clock and the Eagles owner believes they deserved that shot.“I thought we deserved to have a chance to win the game in the final couple of minutes,” Lurie said, via The Philadelphia Inquirer.

However, the Eagles DB James Bradberry, on whom the penalty was called, admitted that he did in fact hold the Chiefs WR JuJu Smith-Schuster. But the Eagles owner Lurie couldn’t help but take a shot after the loss.
