Salvador Ramos, who killed his own grandmother before executing this atrocious crime, was wearing body armor, and he crashed his car outside the school before going inside, Sgt. Erick Estrada of the Texas Department of Public Safety told CNN. He was reportedly armed with a handgun, an AR-15 semiautomatic rifle, and high-capacity ammunition magazines.

A lot of people across the world were left shellshocked by what transpired as such incidents leave unerasable marks on one’s psyche. Several NFL stars and experts came forward to address the issue. Rich Eisen had brutally reprimanded the authorities for beating around the bush and completely ignoring the fact that the easy availability of guns has played a huge role in such incidents.

Most recently, Philadephia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie opined that assault weapons should not be made available with such ease. “Enough is enough! Assault weapons loaded with high-capacity magazines are a clear threat to public safety and should be banned,” Lurie said in a statement released by the team on Twitter.

The statement further read that a federal ban on assault weapons might result in a 70% drop in gun violence and vouched for a thorough mandatory background check. The Eagles are asking everyone to put more pressure on the concerned authorities so that they are forced to take relevant measures.

The debate on whether guns should be banned or not has been going on for ages in the States. While many might agree with what the Eagles are claiming, a lot of people have opined that banning guns would be of no benefit. It will be interesting to see how the concerned authorities address this issue.
