“Way to mock the Cowgirls” – Eagles send cheesesteaks for lunch to the Jaguars as a ‘thank you gesture’ for beating the Cowboys
Cheesesteaks and Jacksonville Jaguars
The Philadelphia Eagles sent cheesesteaks for lunch as a ‘Thank You’ gift to the Jacksonville Jaguars after the latter defeated the Dallas Cowboys in week 15 of the NFL. The Jaguars shocked the Cowboys 40-34 and stopped them from qualifying for the playoffs momentarily until hours later, the courtesy of the Commanders’ loss, the Cowboys made it to the playoffs.
The Cowboys’ loss was beneficial to the Eagles as they now have to win just 1 match out of the remaining 3 to enter the playoffs as the No.1 seed by topping the NFC East division. The Eagles won their game against the Bears and are now 13-1 for the season. Cowboys’ loss saw them fall 10-4 for the season, which means that even if the Eagles lose all of their games and the Cowboys win all of theirs in the regular season, the team from Dallas won’t be able to top the division.
The Eagles will obviously be very happy with the Jaguars’ result and as a thank-you gift, sent cheesesteaks, 35 of them to be exact to the team coached by Doug Pederson, who won a Super Bowl in Philadelphia. As reported by Sports Illustrated, the food was sent from Philly’s Finest, a Philadelphia-themed restaurant in Jacksonville, and the cheesesteaks were accompanied by 25 large orders of fries.
“So on Tuesday, we answer the phone by somebody saying they were from the organization and want to send, want to buy Doug Pederson lunch to celebrate beating the Cowboys. We made them a variety of cheesesteaks with Whiz, with American cheese, and with onions. And some of our specialty Old Bay fries,” Philly’s Finest owner Jeff Harris said.
NFL Twitter reacts to the Eagles sending cheesesteaks to the Jaguars
Fans on Twitter had mixed reactions on social media over this gesture by the Eagles. While most of them loved the gesture and lauded them, many slammed them for mocking their division rivals and dragging them unnecessarily.
The two division rivals- the Eagles and the Cowboys will lock horns against each other on Christmas eve in a much-anticipated clash. While not much will be on the line, bragging rights will be at stake, as both teams would want to extend their good run and prepare for the playoffs.
