The Philadelphia Eagles are arming their quarterback team ahead of the upcoming NFL season. They acquire another quarterback straight from the divisional rival, the Dallas Cowboys, building up the competition for quarterback No. 3 position.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Eagles have inked Will Grier in a one-year contract this offseason. Prior to that, they had traded in the former starting quarterback Kenny Pickett from the Pittsburgh Steelers. But none of these newly acquired quarterbacks are added to dethrone Jalen Hurts from the starting job.

Grier’s journey last season went through a rollercoaster ride through various teams including the Los Angeles Chargers, New England Patriots, and Cincinnati Bengals. Despite being active for multiple teams in the 2023 season, the quarterback didn’t play a single regular season game.
Before the beginning of the 2024 offseason, the Philly was going in an entirely different direction under former offensive coordinator Brian Johnson, who now has joined the Washington Commanders. It was after hiring Kellen Moore as the new Offensive Coordinator, that the franchise began moving with a new strategy, followed by the recent offseason signings.
Fan reaction to the Eagles signing Will Grier
With the signing of Grier, veteran quarterback Tanner McKee would now have competition for the No. 3 quarterback position in the team next season. Although McKee is expected to take the lead, fans didn’t like him getting a competition with a quarterback like former Cowboys QB Grier.
“The QB Factory is so back,” the Eagles fan page wrote. While a fan wrote, “McKee is better than both.” Fans also joked that after this trade, Pickett would again ask for a trade request which will be the next headline. Here are some of the reactions are:
A lot of the fans aren’t quite happy with Grier’s signing as many claimed McKee is way better than him and should be the No. 3 quarterback. It is to be seen if Grier manages to prove everyone wrong.
