The star quarterback of the defending champions Kansas City Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes, certainly does not come among the people who lose hope often. Instead, he tries to generate faith inside people, among his own people, among his fellow teammates. After the disappointing loss against the Detroit Lions, the QB attended a press conference and discussed the results and the possible steps his team needs to follow.
Talking about the match, the 27-year-old athlete spoke about the things that went wrong in the game. He started by saying that the team would try to get things corrected within the next week and he initiated that the team would be in a better situation by the coming week. Despite the poor performance, he drew some positive points like scoring field goals. He also said that the defense played well in the game. However, he also said that the team failed to score field goals at the end when it was needed the most.
He discussed the impact that the absence of the team’s tight-end Travis Kelce had in the last encounter. Speaking on the issue he said that Kelce is one of the best tight ends ever to play football and also urged the youngsters to step up to fill his position.
“You are losing one of the best, I think the best tight end of all time. But guys… other guys got to step up and they are gonna step up in moments because I am sure there will be times he gets doubled and just gonna have to rely on these other guys they are talented to step up and make plays and I believe that they will,” he said.
Kansas City Chiefs felt the absence of Travis Kelce

The Kansas City Chiefs did not have the best of the games. There were moments of individual brilliance by none other than Mahomes but he did not get the support he needed in this game.
Kelce’s absence was well-felt as he plays a pivotal part in the side’s attacking gameplan. Without him, Mahomes felt helpless and hence felt to convert much from the attacks.
Kelce is presently suffering from an injury. The Chiefs do not know when he will be available. Along with him, the Chiefs also suffered from the absence of DT Chris Jones who watched the game as a spectator. Jones’ situation is also pathetic as he has failed to reach an agreement with the club regarding his contract. They are not sure when Jones will be back.
Overall the NFL 2023-24 campaign did not begin well for the Chiefs as they have been going through turmoil. Head coach Andy Reid already expressed his grievances over the situation.
