The New York Jets will be competing for the Super Bowl in the upcoming season under the leadership of Aaron Rodgers. The veteran quarterback is looking to lead the young New York team to championship glory. Their preparation for the upcoming season is being documented by the HBO series Hard Knocks. In a recent episode of the 5-episode series, the Jets wide receiver Jerome Kapp entertained his teammates with a perfect Eminem impression.
Kapp, an undrafted rookie out of Kutztown University, recently went viral on social media following his perfect Eminem impression which was captured by the HBO cameras for the documentary series Hard Knocks. In the video, Kapp could be seen performing Eminem’s verse from the final rap battle of the Hollywood movie ‘8 Mile’ starring the famous rapper.
Jerome Kapp even got the perfect attire for his impression of the 15-time Grammy Award winner. He wore a beanie and a hoodie and rapped for more than 2 minutes. He had the whole team locked on his performance and even got a standing ovation when he finished the verse. Even the 10-time Pro Bowl QB Aaron Rodgers gave a standing ovation with a big smile on his face.
The entire team was standing and cheering for Kapp following his performance. After the video went viral, Marshall Mathers, a.k.a. Eminem, posted a video of the clip on his social media profile with a salute emoji. Kapp, seemingly a big fan of Slim Shady, reposted Eminem’s tweet and wrote “One of the best to ever do it..” in the caption.
Jerome Kapp is hoping to make the 53-man roster
Jerome Kapp is trying to make his way to the 53-man roster of the New York-based football team. During the preseason, he has just caught one pass for 6 yards on two targets.
He will have one more shot to impress the Jets coaching staff in their final preseason game against the New York Giants this weekend. The Jets have a deep, wide-receiving core. It will make it tough for Kapp to secure a roster spot.
However, recently the Jets’ star wide receiver Corey Davis surprisingly stepped away from football, which has opened up a spot for receivers in the New York-based franchise.
Jerome was a standout player during his 3-year stint at Division II Kutztown. He registered 2,190 yards and 22 touchdowns in the 36 games he started during his college days. He is now hoping to take his talents to the big stage and is trying to make the Jets’ 53-man roster.
