DeAndre Hopkins is now a Titan. The news broke early on Sunday, leaving the NFL world divided. While some were unable to grasp the move, a few backed the wide receiver’s choice to move to Tennessee. Emmanuel Acho was one of the first to congratulate Adams for his move, calling it smart and safe.

The Hopkins saga has been on the front pages of every major sports outlet throughout the country. After the Arizona Cardinals released the 31-year-old in May, several franchises wanted to sign him. Names like the Baltimore Ravens, Kansas City Chiefs, New England Patriots, and Tennessee Titans. Hopkins even went on a tour of both the Patriots and Titans facilities last month in order to further his case.

Matthew Judon, the Patriots linebacker, posted a behind-the-scenes photo with DeAndre Hopkins, hoping to entice owner Robert Kraft to sign the five-time Pro Bowler. However, in the end, Titans head coach Mike Vrabel had the last laugh as he snatched Hopkins in front of Bill Belichick’s nose.

While a section of NFL fans have ridiculed Hopkins’ move to the Music City, Emmanuel Acho has defended the former Houston Texans man. “DeAndre Hopkins is making the right decision for his brand,” argued Acho on the latest segment of Fox Sports 1 Speak. “When you turn 30 in the NFL and you’re a free agent, you have a decision to make. Do I want to go and win a championship? Or do I want to go individually ball?”

He continued, “Because the Titans have acquired D-Hop I now believe they are capable of beating anybody. I am not saying they will (beat) anybody in the NFL. Last year without DeAndre Hopkins, the Titans couldn’t beat anybody even if they played great. Particularly when Ryan Tannehill went out. But assuming the D-Hop is present they are capable of beating anybody.”

Acho makes a great case for DeAndre Hopkins and his decision to join the Tennessee Titans. He claims that Hopkins joined the Titans because they needed him the most. At Tennessee, he will be the star, whereas, in Kansas, he will be in the shadow of Patrick Mahomes. Yes, he has a better chance of winning the Super Bowl with an MVP quarterback, but leaving a legacy is also important.

This left Hopkins with the option of joining either the Patriots or the Titans. While playing under Bill Belichick does sound like an exciting opportunity, the Patriots as a whole are in shambles. This left the Titans, who, although they had a mixed-bag season last year, can look good with DeAndre in their team.

As Acho said, the Titans’ lead receiver last year was Robert Woods, who only managed 527 yards. Hopkins, on the other hand, had 717 yards in just nine games. Moreover, running back Derrick Henry is still present, and he will command the box, which will open spaces for D-Hop to run behind and score. If quarterback Ryan Tannehill manages to play every game, Hopkins will surely push the Titans for a place in the divisional playoffs.
