The Cleveland Browns have had an interesting season so far. They came into the season with a lot of intrigue surrounding them. Deshaun Watson, the Browns’ starting QB, was coming off of a tumultuous year and was also one of the highest-paid QBs in the league. He had a slow start to the season, but the Browns were on fire, especially their defense.
However, it was the Browns’ offense that showed up against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. Cleveland came into the game with a record 5-3 and a stellar defense. The Ravens though, have a great roster and are one of the best teams in the NFL. They jumped out to an early 15-point lead, but the Browns’ offense clawed back with Watson leading the way. They eventually won the game 31-33. Fox Sports analyst Emmanuel Acho had high praise for Watson following a great performance.
Acho said on the Fox Sports show Speak:
Deshaun Watson outplayed Lamar Jackson. Lamar Jackson is also making a lot of money. The Baltimore Ravens have the number one defense in football. If you can go to Baltimore, with the best defense in football and win that game with a game-winning drive because your kicker missed the extra point that would've tied it up 31-31. You pay Deshaun Watson for that.
Acho took to Twitter and said:
Now that Deshaun Watson is 5-1 on the season, and outplayed Lamar Jackson, in Lamar’s house, let’s go ahead and dead that, “worst trade in nfl history” nonsense.
Watson finished the game with 213 yards, one touchdown and an interception and led the Browns to a comeback win against the Ravens.
The Browns are now second in the AFC North behind only the Ravens. Not a lot of people believed in the Browns, but so far this season, they have been the surprise package and will look to keep this momentum going in the second half of the season.
Deshaun Watson to undergo an MRI on his left ankle
Deshaun Watson and the Cleveland Browns came from 15 points down to beat the Baltimore Ravens, 31-33. Watson led a game-winning drive in the final minutes of the game that culminated in a Dustin Hopkins 40-yard field goal. The star QB however, suffered an injury to his left ankle before halftime. He left the stadium with a walking boot on his left foot.
Watson is set to undergo an MRI scan on his left ankle. The injury isn’t bad though as the QB intends to play in the Browns’ next game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Watson said:
I'll be fine. Right now, I'm not feeling well, but I'll be fine. I'll be ready to go and ready for that opportunity for us.
Watson signed a five-year, $230 million contract last year, making him one of the highest-paid QBs in the league. So far this season, he has led the Browns to a 6-3 record and has tallied 1,115 yards and 7 touchdowns with 4 interceptions.
