Emmanuel Acho wants football players to appear on the Netflix Quarterback show so that the NFL can become a more globally watched sport. Acho’s argument comes from the fact that the NFL is mainly followed in the USA. While the NFL is one of the three biggest sports leagues besides the NBA and MLB, it lags behind the two in attracting more viewers from around the world.
Acho wants to bridge that gap by promoting the beautiful game to as many people as possible, and the ‘Quarterback’ Series can be the catalyst to achieve that goal. Cinema and the OTT platform are sources of soft power that can catch the attention of the masses.
The first season of the series had a massive impact. Those who had no clue about the game developed a bond with the players who starred on the show. Acho came across a curious person while on vacation in Capri, Italy.
“I was on a boat to Capri, sitting next to a 25-year-old Aussie woman named ‘Tilly’. She had never watched an NFL game & couldn’t name one player, but she had just seen ‘Quarterback’ (1),” Emmanuel Acho revealed on his Twitter handle.
The Fox Sports analyst continued,“Tilly began asking me about “the guy with the curly hair who just had a baby” (Mahomes), & she became an Eagles fan based off watching them lose the SB.”
Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes was one of the stars of the first season of Netflix’s ‘Quarterback,’ alongside Minnesota Vikings’ Kirk Cousins and Philadelphia Eagles‘ Marcus Mariota (Atlanta Falcons’ during shooting).

Trevor Lawrence turns down Netflix’s ‘Quarterback’ despite Emmanuel Acho’s request

Several noteworthy players have already turned down the opportunity to appear on the show for the second season of ‘Quarterback’. There’s one more addition to that list. Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence admitted that he refused the offer.
“I was approached,” Lawerence told reporters after practice at Miller Electric Center. “I decided not to do it this year. It’s just not the right time for me. I watched the show; they did a great job.” However, the 23-year-old did not rule out the possibility of a future appearance.
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott was one of the first to turn down Peyton Manning, the executive producer of ‘Quarterback.’ Besides him, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts also did not want to be part of it either. But it’s not all doom and gloom, as fan favorite Cincinnati Bengals Joe Burrow is one of the candidates to green-light the offer.
