Former NFL running back, Peyton Hillis became a hero when he rescued his children from drowning in the ocean in Florida. He was in critical condition and had to be airlifted to the nearest hospital following his heroic act.
Hillis was kept in the ICU on a ventilator until last week. His uncle Greg had updated everyone on Peyton’s condition on Facebook when the incident had occurred: “I just wanted to let everyone know on Razorback Nation that Peyton is doing better. just wanted to head off any rumors that may be started. I’m sure he would want everyone to know that he appreciates all of the prayers being thrown up on his behalf!!!”
Hillis, who turned 37 on Jan. 21, received love and support from the entire league and everyone prayed for him to recover swiftly. Recent updates from his family said that the former star is off of the ventilator and is recovering.

Peyton Hillis is off the ventilator and closer to making a full recovery
NFL legend and former Dallas Cowboys running back, Emmitt Smith went to visit Peyton Hillis in the hospital. “I had the opportunity to visit a recovering hero this week #PeytonHillis Praying for his healing,” Smith’s Instagram caption read. Smith also shared a photo of the recovering hero in his bed, all smiles on meeting the 3x Super Bowl champion.
Peyton’s girlfriend, actor, and singer Angela Cole wrote a beautiful message for her beau, who saved his two kids from being caught in a riptide. “A hero. ❤️. So proud of this man and so incredibly grateful for family and this incredible hospital. Peyton is off the ventilator and is on the road to recovery. Please continue to pray for he’s still got a ways ahead of him, but thank you for all of your prayers and love and support thus far. It truly makes all the difference. Today was a good day.”
Peyton Hillis had a good career in the league during his seven-year stint. His breakout season came in 2010 as a Cleveland Brown when he rushed for 1,177 yards and 477 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns. He beat Michael Vick in 2012 with 66 percent of the votes and made it to the Madden 12 cover. After two years in Cleveland, he spent a year each with Kansas City Chiefs, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the New York Giants before returning in 2015.
