The San Francisco 49ers will play their first postseason game on Saturday against the Green Bay Packers. The Packers destroyed the Cowboys in their Wild Card game and surprised the entire world. However, it will be a tough matchup for them against the Niners, who have been the best team in the NFC this season and finished the campaign with a record of 12-5.

Former Packer, Mark Chmura, was a part of the Green Bay team that defeated the Niners in the playoffs back in 1995. It was an upset victory that was predicated on the Packers intimidating the Niners. He wants his former team to do the same thing on Saturday against Brock Purdy and company. On an ESPN radio show, Chmura called for the Packers’ defensemen to deliver late hits to Purdy.

The former Packers tight end said:

You guys are going to think I'm crazy. A 15-yard penalty for a late hit on Brock Purdy is not a bad thing, as long as it's worth it. I'm just saying, this is the mindset you go into when it's battle.

He further added:

Sometimes a 15-yard penalty early in the game is worth it if you knock the living crap out of the guy.

Purdy has been phenomenal this season. He is in the MVP conversations this season after yet another brilliant campaign. He and the Niners will enter the Divisional Round game as favorites, but will be wary of the young and vibrant Packers.

Brock Purdy claims that the ‘playoffs feel different’ this time around

The San Francisco 49ers’ Brock Purdy was the final pick of the 2022 NFL Draft. He was supposed to be the backup QB in San Francisco. However, Purdy was compelled to take up the starter’s role after injuries to the team’s other two QBs. Purdy hasn’t looked back since. He had a phenomenal rookie season, leading the Niners to an NFC Championship appearance.

The second-year QB had an even better season this year and will now play his first playoff game this year. He spoke about the playoffs and explained why it feels different this time around.

Purdy said, via 49ersWebzone.com:

So those are all things that were sort of on my plate last year, and then obviously trying to win every single week and get this team to the end. And so now, I guess this year, just being more familiar with the offense, who I am and all that, it’s a little different... It’s good. It’s huge for me as a quarterback to go back to those moments and sort of remember what it feels like.

Purdy finished the regular season racking up 4,280 yards, 31 TDs and 11 interceptions. He had a rating of 113.0 and completed 69.4 percent of his passes. He will hope to lead his team all the way to the Super Bowl this season.
