The drama at the Indianapolis Colts camp has reached new heights as the franchise finally gave permission to running Jonathan Taylor to seek trade opportunities from other teams. He is now on the trade block and the Buffalo Bills are one of the potential contenders to land the former All-Pro running back. Amidst this, the former Bills defensive back Donte Whitner wants Buffalo to add Taylor to take some pressure off their franchise signal-caller, Josh Allen.

During a recent episode of the FanDuel show Up & Adams, the show host Kay Adams, and Donte Whitner discussed potential landing spots for the 2021 rushing yards leader Taylor. During the segment, Whitner claimed Taylor would be a great asset to the Buffalo-based football team.

“If the Bills get Jonathan Taylor, they are Super Bowl champions,” Whitner said on Tuesday’s episode of Up & Adams. Furthermore, Whitner stressed the importance of a good rushing attack while also taking a cheeky dig at the Bills’ star quarterback Josh Allen.

“Running the ball and running it with consistency in the fourth quarter, in four-minute situations,” Whitner said. “In four-minute situations, we have the ball, we have to retain it and knock as much time off the clock to win those close games in the payoffs. You cannot continually put the ball in Josh Allen’s hands in those moments; we’ve seen him fail in those moments.”

Whiter further claimed that if the Bills end up getting Taylor, the opposing defenses will have to pick their poison between covering wide receiver Stefon Diggs by playing soft coverage and loading the box to stop a dominant running back like Jonathan Taylor.

Taylor has had a great NFL career so far despite facing setbacks with injuries. He has registered  3,841 yards and 33 TDs in just 43 career games with the Indianapolis-based football team.

The Colts have given permission for Jonathan Taylor to seek trade opportunities after failing to reach a middle ground on a contract extension. Several teams are reportedly interested in roping in the young running back.

Among those, the Miami Dolphins and the Bills emerge as frontrunners to land the talented former All-Pro RB. Both Bills and the Dolphins already have stacked rosters and adding Taylor would boost their opportunity to win the championship title.

However, Taylor would certainly come at an expensive cost and teams would hesitate to give up too much for the 24-year-old RB, who is entering the final year of his rookie deal.
