After a drought of 25 years, the Detroit Lions have successfully made it to their first NFC championship game, and a victory in that would take them straight to the Super Bowl for the first time in the franchise history. This is truly a big moment for the Lions fans as well as the franchise’s former players.
Filled with pride and excitement, the Lions’ former safety Glover Quin teased the opponents with his excitement while getting on a plane full of the San Francisco 49ers’ fans, chanting “Let’s go Lions!” ahead of the mega matchup between the two remaining NFC teams.
Seeing Quin’s chanting, the Niners fans gave an awkward laugh as they nodded their heads gesturing in disagreement, while a few Detroit fans could be spotted repeating the ex-safety’s words cheering for their team.
Quin played for the Lions for six seasons from 2013 to 2018, after which he retired from his decade-long NFL career. He had a pretty solid career and made the Pro Bowl after leading the league with interceptions, in 2014.
Since the safety’s retirement, his former team, the Lions have come a long way as they’ve made the playoffs twice and completed the seasons with at least 11 wins each. This season has been more than special for them as not only did they finish the regular season with a 12-5 record but also won the NFC North and are now headed their way to the conference championship.
Which Detroit Lions stars are inactive for the NFC championship game?
The only hurdle to the Lion’s Super Bowl dream is the injuries caused to the franchise’s star players, much similar to the 49ers. Due to this, many players have been marked out or questionable to play tonight’s mega matchup.
The Lions’ tight end Brock Wright has been marked out due to his fractured forearm, and neither was veteran Zach Ertz elevated to the team’s roster for the game. Apart from them, Hendon Hooker and Chase Lucas are marked as questionable while Jonah Jackson and Kalif Raymond will also remain on the sideline.
Leading the offense upfront, the Lions will have quarterback Jared Goff against the intense defense of the Niners. Backing him are leading players like Amon Ra-St. Brown, Jahmyr Gibbs, Sam LaPorta, and others.
