Amidst the hype surrounding the Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers, and Dallas Cowboys as the Super Bowl contenders, former Carolina Panthers QB was seen advocating for the Detroit Lions, standing at 9-3 while leading the NFC North. As the season approaches its end, Cam Newton has revealed his black horse as he urged Jared Goff‘s name in the MVP conversation.

In the recent episode of Newton’s popular podcast, 4th & 1, he talked about the leading teams this season, who have the highest odds of appearing in the Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas. Although he acknowledged contenders like Philly, the 49ers, and the Cowboys, he doesn’t seem interested in betting his horses. Instead, Newton firmly put forward the appealing case of Lions quarterback Jared Goff.

My dark horse, whom I've been thoroughly pleased at this year and all year, has been the Detroit Lions. They've had road wins - big road wins, team wins, all types of dominant play all year. Nobody's talking about the Detroit Lions. Jared Goff, in some way, shape.. form, should be mentioned in the MVP rankings, because he's doing his job. When you have Amon-Ra St. Brown and just the elite game-managing ability of Jared Goff, that's going to be a hard team to beat.

The team is standing in a strong position and is most likely to stand by Newton’s words. They are currently primed to win their first NFC North title, paving their way to the postseason to fulfil the quarterback’s predictions.
