“He held them hostage,” NFL Executives predict Aaron Rodgers career with the Packers coming to an end this season

Aaron Rodgers

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers always finds a way to keep himself in the news. After a disappointing season with the Packers, Rodgers has once again found a way to divert the attention from his performance to his future with the franchise.

Rodgers has often talked about calling it a day from the NFL, however, he has never made that decision despite talking it up greatly during the previous offseasons. This one doesn’t seem all that different, with talks already surrounding his potential retirement.

The only thing noticeably different from the other seasons is the fact numerous reports suggest that the Packers may well have had enough of Rodgers’ shenanigans. NFL executives have hinted that the Packers are all set to move on from the veteran quarterback, despite having signed a 3-year contract last season.

Aaron Rodgers to Denver Broncos
Aaron Rodgers should have gone to the Broncos according to an NFL executive

According to the Athletic, an unnamed NFL executive said, “I think he showed his true colors last offseason when he held them hostage and took $50 million a year. He knew he could get his best deal from the Packers, and now that he has it, now that he has secured the bag, he is open to leaving.”

Another NFL executive felt that the Packers should have got rid of Rodgers last season itself. He pointed out the fact that the Broncos were in need of a quarterback given Russell Wilson’s trade and it was perfect for the Packers to get a good deal for themselves instead of offering him the mammoth $150 million deal.

“I think the Packers are done with him. The time to jump off was last year. They missed the ability to maximize their compensation. And they missed the playoffs. When they moved Davante (Adams), they should have moved Aaron and said, ‘We are starting over and we have all these picks.’ They could have sent him to Denver.”

Only time will tell, where Aaron Rodgers ends up playing his football if he does continue next season. As of now, there is no dearth in the number of suitors after Rodgers’ signature with the New York Jets showing the maximum interest.
