This offseason, the Atlanta Falcons made a big decision by stealing Kirk Cousins from the Minnesota Vikings in a four-year lucrative contract deal. However, it looks like the franchise isn’t yet satisfied with having the top quarterback, as they ought to find the best. 

The Falcons brought Cousins into the highest-paid player clubs, but word around the market is they are still seeking a quarterback in the upcoming draft. And their latest ‘private’ workout with Michael Penix Jr. makes the former statement more evident.

As NFL Senior Reporter Albert Breer reports, the Falcons are sending a “sizable group” of people, including names like HC Raheem Morris and their General Manager Terry Fontenot, to Seattle to conduct a private workout with Washington Penix Jr.

The Falcons have a No. 8 overall draft pick. Though Penix isn’t being counted among the top ten contenders in the upcoming draft, it appears the franchise is eyeing him as a strong backup to a three-time Pro Bowler. 

Meanwhile, the 23-year-old Washington Huskies quarterback is coming off a good season, as he advanced the college football team to the CFP National Championship Game. He logged 4,903 yards with 36 touchdowns and 11 touchdowns in his final season before declaring himself for the 2024 NFL Draft.

If Penix impressed the Falcons during the private workout, there’s a high chance the franchise would pick him using their No. 8 pick and make him one of the top ten picks in the 2024 draft.

As good as the news is for the young quarterback and Atlanta, it doesn’t seem to sit well among the Cousins’ fans.
