“I pass along as much information…,” Falcons’ Marcus Mariota makes an honest admission about his relationship with rookie QB Desmond Ridder
The Atlanta Falcons were among the very few franchises who roped in a quarterback in the 2022 NFL draft despite having a well settled quarterback in the form of Marcus Mariota. To put things in perspective, the Falcons signed Mariota from the Las Vegas Raiders in March and then went on to sign Desmond Ridder in the draft.
The newly acquired duo have started to get along very well in new colours, as revealed by the veteran quarterback, Marcus Mariota. The 28-year-old said that he is always looking to pass on his experience onto the younger guys in the franchise, especially Desmond Ridder.
Marcus Mariota continues to share his experience with Desmond Ridder
This is not often the case when two up and coming quarterbacks are competing for the spot of the franchise QB. However, Mariota is of the opinion that sharing his experience with Ridder would only benefit the team.
“If you can help guys — especially the younger guys — out, it’s ultimately going to make your team better,” Mariota said this week, via ESPN. “So, I do whatever I can. I pass along as much information as I can to him, whatever he wants to absorb.”
Desmond Ridder on his part, also acknowledged the help he has been getting from his senior partner and the fact that he always remains available to answer his queries about the game.
“When something’s not right and I know he’s been in that situation before and I just go and ask him, ‘OK, so coach said this, how do we really want it?'” Ridder said. “He comes back and gives me an answer and just makes things run more smoothly.”
