It’s not Kyle Shanahan‘s first rodeo at the Super Bowl. Rather, it will be his third appearance in the greatest sporting event. In 2020, he led the San Francisco 49ers to the NFL title game, and even before that, he was the Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator when they played and lost against the New England Patriots in 2017.
On this occasion, the 49ers will face a familiar foe in the form of the Kansas City Chiefs. These two teams met in 2020, which the 49ers lost despite leading the game at halftime. Shanahan understands the pressure that the Super Bowl game brings, so it’s okay to let loose during the buildup of the game.
In the early hours of Monday, when the bus carrying the 49ers players left the Vegas airport, Shanahan was in a chirpy mood, waving for the camera. It’s not always easy to enjoy the festivities that the Super Bowl brings. So when the opportunity does arrive, it is better to make use of it.
Fans speculate Kyle Shanahan appeared drunk during the interview
Later that same day, at Allegiant Stadium, Shanahan was part of the question-and-answer session. While he was answering quarterback Brock Purdy, fans noticed that the 44-year-old’s speech sounded a tad suspicious. Not the answer, but the way he spoke propelled them to conclude that he had a few too many drinks.
Well, not that anyone is complaining, because it is a joyous event, and naturally, there will be a few beers flying off the counter.
It’s debatable whether he was drunk or not, but he did not forget the head coaching duties even after landing in the Sin City. Both the 49ers and the Chiefs will be using the new practice facilities of the Las Vegas Raiders.
ESPN‘s Adam Schefter reported on Monday morning that 49ers players were unhappy with the soft pitches. However, when Shanahan was asked whether they would make any different arrangements.
It is what it is. We'll be all right. It's the field we have. We're good.Kyle Shanahan said
The 49ers take on the Chiefs on February 11 for the Super Bowl at Raiders Allegiant Stadium. According to Sportsline Sportsbook, the defending champions are two-point underdogs to make it three titles in five years.
