On Saturday, the Army Black Knights went against the Navy Midshipmen in a highly anticipated college football matchup. The game took place at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts. The exciting matchup attracted a lot of viewership as event the New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick made an unusual appearance at ESPN’s game day to discuss the game.
Ahead of the 124th all-time meeting between the Army and the Navy, the excitement around the stadium was off the roofs. Fans started going crazy in the stands and started jumping up and down in excitement. Both the Army and Navy student sections went wild long before kickoff.
The brief video of the student section going crazy went viral on social media and accumulated more than 90k views within just hours of posting. Check out the footage of the wild celebration attached below.
The game itself was exciting from start to finish despite being a low-scoring one. Both teams were evenly matched but their ground game made the difference. Army QB Bryson Daily just attempted 14 passes and completed 7 of them for 54 yards and 1 touchdown. However, he used his legs a lot as he carried the rock 27 times for 84 yards while averaging 3.1 yards per attempt.
Daily’s legs ended up being the difference as the Army managed to outrush the Navy in the game significantly. In addition, Army’s number 1 running back Kanye Udoh also added 88 rushing yards while averaging 6.8 yards per carry.
In the end, the Army Black Knights managed to secure a 17-11 victory against the Navy Midshipmen and improved to a 6-6 record in the 2023 season. With that victory, the Army also ended up winning the Commander-in-Chief trophy since they defeated both the Navy and Air Force during the 2023 season.
Bill Belichick picked the Navy to win against the Army
Ahead of the historic game between Navy Midshipmen and Army Black Knights, the Patriots head coach Bill Belichick joined Pat McAfee and others on ESPN’s college football game day.
Belichick joined the panel to discuss the game and surprisingly showed his funny side to the audience. When asked about his prediction for the game, the Pats’ veteran head coach pulled out a Navy helmet and wore it on his head to show his support to the Midshipmen.
However, his prediction didn’t come true since the Army ended up winning the game on the field. Still, fans were surprised by Bill Belichick’s unusual appearance at ESPN amidst his firing rumors.
