Skip Bayless is known for his shrewd remark about the NFL players and coaches. On a lot of occasions, the veteran analyst gets roasted on social media, but this time, he said something that earned him a special position. Bayless, in an episode of his show Undisputed, criticized the former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick by labeling him as a glorified defensive coordinator.

His analysis started by taking a dig at the people who claim that Belichick is the greatest head coach, the NFL has ever had. Refuting the claim, the veteran spitted facts that without Tom Brady, Belichick just won 64 games and lost 85.

In addition, the veteran HC failed to orchestrate a good campaign after Brady left the Patriots. He took his team to the playoffs only once. Even in that game, his team had an early departure in the playoffs as they lost by a hefty margin of 47-17 against the Buffalo Bills in the wildcard round.

You guys say that it is unquestioned that Bill Belichick is the greatest coach ever... without Tom Brady as his quarterback, Bill Belichick is 21 games under 500. He is 64 and 85 in games that Tom Brady did not start a quarterback. And once Tom Brady got kicked out at the backdoor from New England, Bill went 29-38 in the four years he made it to one playoff game 41-17.

Following all these, the Fox Sports analyst said, Belichick is not the best coach in the NFL. Bayless labeled Belichick as just a glorified defensive coordinator. Moreover, Bayless emphasized it was Tom Brady who used to lead all the offensive drive and Belichick simply managed the defense. 

I say he is the greatest defensive mind ever. But in the end, that means he was a glorified defensive coordinator for a dynasty. Because He ran the defense while Tom effectively ran the offense. He made all the late plays to win all those Super Bowls

This season, Bill Belichick’s coaching liabilities were brutally exposed. The Patriots finished their season with just 4 wins and 13 losses. These numbers were enough for the owner to move on from him after the season.

Not only the owner but the NFL fans and analysts were also unhappy with the performance of Belichick. Denouncing his legacy, the analysts claimed that Belichick was not that efficient without the help of Brady and the 15-time Pro Bowl QB remained the driving force behind the Pats dynasty.

It seems like most of the teams in the league share the same opinion as Bayless since Belichick is struggling to get even interviews.

He had a couple of interviews with the Atlanta Falcons for their vacant HC position, but the former Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris ended up getting that gig. For now, Belichick remains as a free agent and his future in the league is uncertain.
