The 2023-24 NFL offseason has not officially begun yet teams are wasting no time in making key roster changes starting with their Head Coaches. Teams that should fire their HCs are not doing so while teams that should retain their HCs are firing them.
Mike Vrabel was let go by the Tennessee Titans in a shocking move by the organization. In another shocking move, the Chicago Bears have decided that they will in fact not be parting ways with Matt Eberflus despite the team’s performance this season.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that after holding multiple meetings on Monday and Tuesday, the ownership of the Chicago Bears is not looking to make any changes at Head Coach and Matt Eberflus will be returning as the team’s HC in 2024.
The team went 7-10 this season and ranks at the bottom of the NFC North. Despite having another good year from Justin Fields, who played as well as a QB can with the offensive line he has, the Bears could just not make the playoffs. The team was inconsistent throughout and had stretches wherein it was hard to watch them play.
Matt Eberflus improved on his 2022 season record of 3-14 by winning 4 more games this season. But that still is not good enough. Despite drafting Justin Fields, the team has failed to utilize him to his maximum potential. This year, the Bears have the first pick in the NFL Draft and are looking to potentially bring in a new QB to replace Fields even though he can play well if given the right environment.
Matt Eberflus has wasted Justin Fields’ potential as per fans
It has now got to a point where Bears fans are themselves pleading Fields to get out of the team so that his talent is not wasted in the organization which is doomed to fail.
Here’s how they reacted to this news on X (formerly known as Twitter):
LMAO how. Just how. How can you be this bad at your job and not get fired? I hate this organization lmfao

So if they draft Caleb….he walks into the SAME EXACT situation Trubisky and Fields walked into, a coach who won't be there much longer and has to learn a new second system in year 2…. pic.twitter.com/nEIz8gf9tH

Caleb Williams, get ready to go back to play another season at USC buddy.
Let Justin Fields go to a real coach, please.

Caleb, even if they decide to offer you part ownership in the franchise, do not be enticed. You do not want any part of the Bears’ organization.
Bears hate winning

The Chicago Bears are likely to determine if Eberflus is the man or not after the 2024 season. This is his last chance to prove that he can indeed take this team to the next level. But for now, he is staying.
