The Kansas City Chiefs‘ journey to another Super Bowl didn’t go as planned. The defending Super Bowl champions had a pretty uneventful regular season, but they clicked in the postseason, going on an incredible three-game winning streak to secure their spot in the championship game. However, there is a lot of negativity surrounding Travis Kelce‘s girlfriend Taylor Swift on the internet.

The 12-time Grammy winner has been a staple at the Chiefs’ games this season. She attended Kansas City’s all three playoff wins and is expected to be at the Super Bowl on February 11. However, she has had to face a lot of haters on the internet during the campaign. The ‘Love Story’ singer’s constant presence during the game has rubbed a lot of people the wrong way.

A lot of the pundits and former NFL players have gone as far as to suggest that the league deliberately concocted the relationship to increase their viewership. Swift has brought a lot of new fans to the sport and the league has benefitted from it immensely. However, she has also received a lot of negativity on the internet because of her presence during the games.

A lot of the Dallas Cowboys fans pointed to a similar situation that occurred when the former Cowboys QB Tony Romo started dating actress Jessica Simpson. The 43-year-old singer and actress got similar media coverage in 2007 in connection with her relationship with Romo. Simpson’s presence was deemed as a distraction as Romo and the Cowboys suffered from lost form and early playoff exits. The QB ended his relationship with Simpson in 2009.

A similar situation has happened with Swift and Kelce. The results though, have been completely different. Kelce and the Chiefs have been phenomenal despite the increased attention on them. It will be hard to criticize Swift if the Chiefs went on to win the Super Bowl in Las Vegas this month.

Fans recall the Tony Romo-Jessica Simpson saga amid increased hate towards Taylor Swift

The Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce saga has its fair share of haters and critics. The couple have dominated the headlines ever since they started dating. However, not all news has been positive regarding the duo. Some fans have hated the pop star’s association with the league as a lot of negativity and hatred spreading on the internet.

Dallas Cowboys‘ fans, especially, have compared the couple with Tony Romo and Jessica Simpson. Fans expressed sympathy for the Take My Breath Away hitmaker, pointing out that she was portrayed negatively at the time, while Swift was receiving little to no negative press in comparison. The Chiefs will play the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl on February 11. Swift is expected to be at the game, despite her Eras Tour concert in Tokyo a day before the big game.
