Jerry Jones is considered one of the most influential team owners in the NFL. The Cowboys’ billionaire owner has been part of the franchise for decades now and has been successful in making it into one of the most loved football teams in America. However, love doesn’t equal trophies, and that is something that the Cowboys are lacking in recent times.

Jones is also known for his absurd takes and candid demeanor that gets him into controversies from time to time. Recently, the billionaire made a bizarre comment regarding the Eagles’ current Super Bowl run that hasn’t made any sense whatsoever.

The Cowboys owner compared the Eagles to the Rams and he can’t be more wrong. The Rams were Super Bowl winners last year, however, they only achieved the feat by giving away all their draft picks and signing veterans in each position. The Eagles are their complete opposites as they have built their team from draft picks and have a young all-round squad that can compete for years.

The absurd comments by Jones even got the notice of Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie, who contacted former Cowboys HC Jimmy Johnson, who has won two Super Bowls with the team.

Jimmy was completely candid with his statement and savagely roasted the Cowboys’ owner for being uninformed about the mechanics of various teams.

“I said I have no idea. Philadelphia has a couple of first-round picks in the upcoming NFL Draft. They’ve got extra picks down the road. They’ve got some very talented players. They’ve got some talented young players,” Johnson told the Philadelphia Inquirer. “I think the Philadelphia Eagles are gonna be good for a long time.”

The Dallas Cowboys desperately need to win the Super Bowl. They were once considered the strongest team in the league but have been average since the 90s. However, this year felt different as they had a great regular season, but their journey came to an end after losing in the divisional round against the 49ers.

Jerry Jones is seriously considering massive changes in the team, but doesn’t want to bet his team’s future to get success for just one year. This is exactly what happened with the Rams who gave their worst regular season performance after winning the Super Bowl.

“Anybody who thinks I won’t take a chance has misread the tea leaves. But I do think longer term, and I’m real hesitant to bet it all for a year. There’s a lot of things that can happen for that year. In essence, we’re seeing a couple of teams that have had some real success putting it all out there and paying for it later,” Jones stated to the reporters.

The Cowboys seriously need to perform next season if they want to keep their massive fan base intact and that will only be possible by either winning the conference or the Super Bowl.
