Hillis was in Pensacola, Florida with his family when this incident happened. He was immediately helicoptered to a nearby hospital for his treatment. Peyton’s uncle Greg wrote on Facebook updating everyone about his nephew’s condition: “I just wanted to let everyone know on Razorback Nation that Peyton is doing better.”

Greg further added that Peyton had some issues with his kidneys and his lungs, but doctors have assured him that he will make a full recovery. “I just wanted to head off any rumors that may be started. I’m sure he would want everyone to know that he appreciates all of the prayers being thrown up on his behalf!!!”,” Greg said.

Fans showered in their love and support for Peyton Hillis and prayed for his speedy recovery.

Peyton Hillis was selected by the Denver Broncos in the seventh round of the 2008 NFL draft where he spent his rookie season as a fullback on the bench after suffering a season-ending injury. He did, however, end the season as the Broncos’ leading rusher. In 2010, he was traded by Denver to the Cleveland Browns, where he tasted success as a running back.

His breakout season in 2010 ended with him rushing for 1,177 yards and 477 receiving yards with a total of 13 touchdowns. The following year in 2011, Hillis amassed 717 yards and scored 3 touchdowns. Then in 2012, he made it to the cover of Madden 12 beating former No.1 overall pick Michael Vick.
