This NFL season, the New York Jets will rely heavily on Micheal Clemons and Garrett Wilson. The young defensive tackle will be in charge of disrupting the opposition’s game plan and getting the ball back to his offense. Wilson, last year’s Offensive Rookie of the Year, will then go to work with his new quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
This situation will unfold during a game, but in practice, Clemons and Wilson squared off, although not directly. In the HBO series, Hard Knocks, the audience will see an ugly side to this offense versus defense battle. In a viral clip of the episode, Clemons can be seen getting into a fistfight. Garrett Wilson came out of that melee with the conclusion, “I ain’t f*cking with Mike’s a**!”
Head coach Robert Saleh was visibly frustrated as he wondered aloud, “Now what!?”. These things tend to happen during practice sessions when competitors from both sides of the ball go against each other.
This is not the first time players from the same team have gotten into fights during practice. Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs was seen throwing a punch at teammate Jack Cochrane during this year’s training camp last month.
The Jets will be in good shape as long as this incident doesn’t spill over once the season starts. The Jets take on the Buffalo Bills for their season opener on September 12.

Aaron Rodgers’ leadership shines through amidst Micheal Clemons’ bust-up
Micheal Clemons was involved in a fistfight during a practice session. The HBO series, Hard Knocks, showed a glimpse of that in its second episode of the series. In that same footage, Aaron Rodgers‘ leadership shined through as he was seen talking to Clemons after the defensive tackle had cooled down a bit.
Rodgers was acquired by the Jets this offseason to lead a young and hungry team. His leadership in moments like this will help the Jets immensely and they will hope to take the next step this season and get into the playoffs.
The Hard Knocks are covering the New York Jets this season. HBO and NFL Films debuted the series on August 8 and its second episode came out yesterday on August 15. The series finale will come out on September 5, two days before the season opener.
The Jets play their next preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
