Geno Smith has been a revelation for the Seahawks since the departure of Russell Wilson to the Broncos. The 32-year-old QB has had a great regular season and performed brilliantly in their last game against the Rams. The Seahawks clinched the last playoff spot by defeating the Rams in a controversial game.
The Seahawks needed a win against the Rams to qualify, and the Lions needed to win against the Packers. The fortunes were in Seattle’s favor as they snatched away the last playoff spot from the Packers’ hands.
Smith was emotional after the game and it was pretty relevant in his post-game interview, where he spoke about overcoming his adversities and winning the game for all the fans.
However, the Seahawks QB was not aware of the result of the Lions-Packers game as it hadn’t been played yet. Though, he clearly rooted for the Lions for an integral win.
“We had to put it out, the Rams played really well, and it became ugly,” Geno Smith stated in his post-game interview. “It took a lot of heart.” The Seahawks have swiftly made it to the playoffs. However, they will be faced with a formidable foe in the 49ers.
Geno Smith is becoming a fan favorite in the Lumen Field
Smith took all the pressure of expectations from the fans after the departure of Russell Wilson and looks to exceed it as the QB has started to shine at the Lumen Field. Smith is becoming a fan favorite as his personality, coupled with his never-give-up attitude, has allured fans in his favor.
The Seahawks may have made the better choice of trading Wilson and starting Smith, instead of signing a new QB from the market. Smith has got a great chance to showcase his talents and the 32-year-old is making full of all the opportunities given to him
The controversial victory against the Rams was enchanting for the Seahawks. However, the celebrations will have to be cut short as they face the 49ers in sudden death next week.
Everything is possible in the NFL as Geno Smith and the Seattle Seahawks pulled off a miracle and qualified for the playoffs against all odds. Smith couldn’t hold back his tears after the victory and thanked all the fans for making the team up against all odds.
