The 9th-year quarterback Geno Smith surprised everyone with his stupendous performance for the Seattle Seahawks this season. On the back of his impressive outing, the Seahawks managed to reach the playoffs despite league experts predicting a losing season for them before the 2022 season started. Furthermore, Geno got his individual recognition as he got selected to his first Pro Bowl in his 9th season.
Geno Smith was drafted as the 39th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft by the New York Jets. For all the potential and the talent he had, surprisingly, his career never took off with the Jets. After his rookie contract, he had a couple of one-year stints with the NY Giants and LA Chargers. After that, he ended up with the Seahawks as a backup to the Seahawks’ then-quarterback Russell Wilson.
Smith spent two years sitting behind the Super Bowl Champion QB Russell Wilson. Thereafter, he got a chance at redemption when the Seahawks made a massive decision to trade their franchise QB Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos. The Seahawks got a massive haul including two-first round and two second-round draft picks and the Broncos QB Drew Lock in the trade package for Wilson.
And after a competition with Drew Lock in the training camp, Geno Smith convinced his head coach Pete Carroll and became the Seahawks starting quarterback and the rest is history.
Geno Smith is confident in returning to the Seahawks

The 9th-year QB threw for 4282 passing yards and 30 touchdowns while completing 69.8 percent of his passes. Statistically, his best season so far, which gained him his first Pro Bowl season. Furthermore, he’s also a front-runner for the Comeback Player of the Year honor this season.
Smith, who is heading to the free agent this season, picked a perfect year to have a breakout season. Nonetheless, he’s highly confident that he will return to the Seahawks next season with a new contract.
“We’ve had talks and we’re in the process of getting all that settled right now,” Smith said during a recent interview with Sirius XM. “It’s looking very good. We think we can get some things done, but obviously, those things take time. This is the process that I hate about the NFL because I just want to play football, but it’s a business as well, so we’ve got to take care of business and then we’ll get back to the football.”
And head coach Pete Carroll has already revealed how he feels about Smith by saying, “we’ve got our guy.” So, it seems like a new era under Geno Smith has started for the Seattle Seahawks
