The NFL is a physical sport. Adrenaline runs high through a football game. Every snap can be dangerous. However, the league has taken a lot of precautions to protect its players in recent years, to the point where some purists have termed the recent NFL as ‘soft.’ Players nowadays refrain from trash-talking and they get chastised for it when they do.
The NFL playoffs, especially, bring out the most competitive side in a football player. Every postseason game is a high-stakes, win-or-go-home battle. Players sometimes lose themselves in the competition and proceed to talk s*** during the game. Some thrive in that environment, others just collapse under the pressure. The San Francisco 49ers’ TE George Kittle believes that a little trash talk is good for sports in general.
Kittle said during his latest appearance on the ‘Pat McAfee Show:’
A little s*** talking is good for rivalries and stuff.George Kittle said
The host of the show, Pat McAfee then took over and explained why it is a good thing and said that a lot of fans are understanding the art of ‘s*** talking’ through their show. Kittle and the Niners defeated the Green Bay Packers in the Divisional Round of the playoffs last Saturday.
The 49ers have advance to their second consecutive NFC Championship game and will take on the Detroit Lions at home next Sunday. Kittle and company have been fantastic this season and will look to win their first Super Bowl in the Kyle Shanahan era.
George Kittle has a lot of respect for the Detroit Lions ahead of the NFC Championship game
The San Francisco 49ers will play their NFC Championship game against the Detroit Lions next Sunday. Both these teams have been two of the best teams in the league this season and deserve to be in the final four. The Lions, especially, have surprised a lot of people with their success this season. Although they haven’t tasted a lot of playoff success in recent years, George Kittle and the Niners are not taking them lightly.
Kittle said on the Pat McAfee show when asked if he was surprised to see the Lions make the championship game:
I'm not surprised at all. The way that they play, you can just tell, everything that Dan Campbell preaches is what the team is. It's not fake. They're gritty, they're going to outwork you, they're going to out-effort you, they're going to put everything on tape.George Kittle said
This will be the Niners’ second consecutive NFC Championship game. They faltered at this stage last year against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Niners will hope to have a better outing on Sunday and reach the Super Bowl.
