Over two days have passed since the San Francisco 49ers lost the thrilling Super Bowl game against the Kansas City Chiefs and controversies are doing rounds in the Niners camp. Head coach Kyle Shanahan suffered criticism for choking in the Super Bowl once again. Questions are popping up about whether the 49ers will be able to make it back to the Super Bowl next season.
Amid this environment, George Kittle, the tight end was asked about his feelings on the Niners competing in the next Super Bowl. Without any hesitation, the TE said that the Niners would challenge the Super Bowl, next year. He believed that the team has some great talents at their peak and they would provide their best in the coming season.
The TE said to the reporters:
I would say so. I feel a lot of guys would sign the contract. Brock is on his rookie deal. A lot of guys play for a very high level. Nick Bosa is coming back, right? Yeah, I think we can win our football games.George Kittle said
The Niners have to start from scratch again. They did everything that they could do in the regular season. The team made it to the NFC and won the title they failed to win last year due to multiple injuries. This season, however, the team won it with a statement performance. In the Super Bowl also, the Niners fought until their last breath. The team had the lead till the dying seconds of the game but failed to win due to a last-second field goal. It is worth noting that, the game went to the OT and the 49ers lost against the Chiefs.
The Niners had blamed the OT regulations indirectly
After the loss against the Chiefs, the Niners’ head coach and players blamed the overtime rule. They claimed that they were not aware of the revised OT rule.
Kyle Juszczyk, the fullback said in the press conference:
You know what? I didn't even realize the playoff rules were different in overtime. I assume you just want the ball to score a touchdown and win.Kyle Juszczyk said
Earlier, OT rules were used to decide the winner based on which team scored first. Later, the revised rules decided to give equal opportunities to both teams. Even if one team scores a touchdown, the other team will get an opportunity to equalise the scoreline and win the game, until the stipulated time is over.
