The New York Giants QB Daniel Jones finally had a decent season in his fourth year in the league. And with reference to that, he is now demanding a contract extension in the pay grade of the league’s top-tier quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen.
According to reports, Daniel Jones, who recently switched to a new agent, demands more than what the G-Men offered. The fourth-year quarterback asks for a contract extension with an annual salary of around $45 million. For comparison, that’s how much money the Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes gets paid per season and he’s won 2 Super Bowl rings, 2 Super Bowl MVPs, and 2 league MVPs.
On the other side, Jones, who demands the same kind of money as Patrick Mahomes, has not made a single Pro Bowl in his career so far. Furthermore, he never even had 3500+ passing yards per season. For him to demand that kind of money is simply preposterous.
Comparing Jones’ demand to a Super Bowl-winning QB might be farfetched, but it doesn’t even match up to other non-Lombardi-winning QBs is what makes it laughable. The Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen, who gets paid $43 million a season for his talents, has been to two Pro Bowl and has guided his team to the AFC East division title in three consecutive seasons. And the Giants QB Daniel Jones, who has led his team to just one winning season in four years, is demanding more money than him.

Social media rips Daniel Jones for unreal expectations

NFL fans on social media went crazy over the idea of the Giants QB Daniel Jones demanding an unreal contract deal despite massively underperforming for a first-round draft pick.
The NY Giants made a questionable decision on 2019 NFL Draft day when they spent their sixth overall pick to draft the Duke quarterback Daniel Jones to replace the two-time Super Bowl Champion, Eli Manning.
And now, after four years, Jones has been proven to be a mediocre signal-caller who might be a good back in the league. However, the Giants stuck with him through his rookie deal and finally got something good out of it in 2022 when he had the best individual season of his career, while also leading the Giants to a playoff victory for the first time in over a decade.
However, even that season doesn’t deserve a 45 million dollar per year contract and the Giants will certainly not pay him that much. If the two parties can’t reach a middle ground on a long-term deal soon, the Giants will end up using a franchise tag on Daniel Jones, which will result in him getting paid $32.4 million next year.
