Saquon Barkley of the New York Giants wants to stay with the team. Barkley does not want to be traded despite a not-so-good season with the team.  The player shined in 2022. However, he and the team have failed to keep the same momentum this year. Many speculations are circling that the team might go for a trading option, but Barkley does not want to be traded. Instead, he wants to stick to the team and wishes to strengthen the impact that he wants to have. 

The player via the team transcript, recently expressed his unwillingness to go to any other teams. Saquon Barkley said, “Sitting here, everyone knows how I feel. I don’t think anybody in their right mind would want to get traded anywhere. It’s not an easy thing to do, you’ve got to move, I have a family. I would love to be here but like I said, it’s not in my control. My focus is to be the leader I can be for this team to try to get this thing on the right track.”

In reality, the player has little to do with the trading. Whether he will be traded or not lies in the hands of the general manager Joe Scochen. He will take the final call, and Barkley knows that pretty well. Barkley has found himself in a bit of a helpless situation where he can do nothing on the trade.

The player added, “I can’t control that. It’s not like I’m able to make any decisions or have any say in that. The only thing that I have is the way I show up to work and the way I go out there and compete. (Those are) the things that I can control.“

Saquon Barkley’s last season vs this season: A comparative analysis

As mentioned earlier, Barkley was brilliant last season. The running back played 16 games last year and had 295 carries for 1,312 rushing yards with a 4.4 average per carries. He had ten touchdowns and 68 long gains. Compared to this, the RB had a slow start in this season. Had 53 carries for 207 yards in three games this season and has just one touchdown. The inability in effectiveness is clear-cut here.

This season has not started well for the New York Giants. They are down by 1-5. One victory in six matches has made things difficult for them. It is to be seen whether the management now takes some harsh decisions to strengthen the team.
