“I do believe in this football team”, Broncos GM George Paton backs Russell Wilson & HC Nathaniel during the team’s Demoralizing phase
Broncos GM George Paton is still unphased by the poor form shown by Russell Wilson and co.
Stating that Russell Wilson and his team Denver Broncos are having a bad season will be an understatement now. They came in the season with high hopes but unfortunately have fallen flat with a record of 2-5 after week 7. But even amidst this crucial hour, the team’s GM, George Paton, is continuing to back the team.
“The results aren’t there,” He said in a media interaction on the Denver Broncos YouTube channel and added that he believes in this current football team. The general manager sounded very confident about his team, even after the abysmal performance.
He further stated, “I do believe in this football team, and I do believe in the people in our building — our coaching staff. We can turn it around. It’s only seven games. We’ve been in every game, [but] that’s not what it’s all about. It’s about winning games. We need to learn how to win football games. We haven’t done that.”
George Paton is still firm and optimistic about his decision to sign Russell Wilson
The good thing about Paton is that even after the poor performance by the team he is not making Head Coach Nathaniel Hackett the scapegoat and not blaming him for all the bad game, instead, he is supporting him by saying “I believe in Nathaniel, I support Nathaniel 100 percent. He’s been in this for seven games as a head coach. The scrutiny he’s faced is unprecedented.” He also complemented Hackett on keeping the team together.
George Paton also backed the star quarterback, Russell Wilson, who is currently under heavy scrutiny. “We believe in Russ, and I believe in Russ. We just need to play better on offense. The timing, the rhythm, we need an identity. We don’t have an identity on offense, and I think that comes with time. Hopefully, it comes soon.”
All the recent mishaps should be a matter of concern for any team’s General Manager, but it is not the case for Paton. He believes that all of this is temporary and it will pass with time.
Russell Wilson, meanwhile, has not performed at the level expected of a nine-time Pro Bowl quarterback. He currently has career-low marks in completion percentage, touchdown-to-interception ratio, passer rating, and win-loss record, and is now struggling to get back in form.
The Broncos’ defense is strong, but their offense is clearly falling short on many grounds. Broncos currently stand at the last spot in the AFC West division after seven games and now prepare for a crucial match in London against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
Let’s hope that the Broncos and Russell Wilson bounce back in their next game and start showing results after this show of confidence by their GM. If not, Broncos will have more problems on their hands, and it will be difficult for them to continue in the league this season.
