“Why did he sign with Carolina?!” – ‘Gutted’ Adam Thielen gets brutally trolled for disclosing he had eyes set on the Super Bowl this season amid Panthers’ poor 2-15 season
Thielen only had 2 catches for 12 yards in the Tampa game.

Despite his first 1,000-yard haul after four years, Adam Thielen is not getting any younger in a season where the Carolina Panthers finished as the bottom team in the league with just 2 wins all season. So what’s the next course of action for the 32-year-old who chose to leave Minnesota for Carolina?
Well, to be fair, the Minnesota Vikings did not make the playoffs either. But what if Thielen had stuck around for another year? It’s possible that even with the quarterback’s trouble, they could have made it. But he had been part of the setup for a long time, so he decided that it was time for a new start.
The interesting thing is that the Panthers weren’t even his first preference. He was browsing around after becoming a free agent in the 2023 offseason. Back in March, he appeared on the Pat McAfee Show, revealing that he was enticed by owner David Tepper‘s vision.
However, an entire season has passed since then, and the Panthers are back to square zero with all the piled-up losses. They finished the season with a 0-9 defeat at home against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Panthers are due a massive overhaul in the coaching department, which might affect a few players’ futures with the franchise. When the media tracked down Thielen in the locker room, they asked the two-time Pro Bowler his opinion on the matter. He said,
The plan was to come here, make a difference, have a chance at making the playoffs, win the division, and build it off with a rookie quarterback [Bryce Young]. Then go into year 2 with hopefully the same staff and everybody together, and hopefully a run at the Super Bowl. I don't have a whole lot of years left, so having an opportunity at the Super Bowl was kind of my vision.
Football fans took a jab at Adam Thielen for having Super Bowl aspirations with the 2-15 Carolina Panthers
Thielen signed a three-year, $25 million contract with the Panthers. He just finished his first season with them, which leaves two more years at Bank of America Stadium. There will be new management next season, and things could swing both ways. Bryce Young gets his act together and becomes a good quarterback, or they repeat the same as this season.
The realization of the first scenario is very slim compared to the latter. Even if Young manages to put together some good games, there’s no guarantee Thielen will be part of the team, anyway. What if the new coaching staff just replaces him with a new younger receiver? Winning a Super Bowl appears to be a pipe dream, according to social media.
If he does stick around for the foreseeable future, then the Panthers need to come up with plans for Young to link up with him more often in the next season. As football fans mentioned, it will be hard for them to make a push for conference glory, let alone the Super Bowl. Still, Thielen is capable of making a difference as one of the more experienced players on the roster.
