What a season it has been for Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers! The team embarked on the season without any expectations. Nobody saw this team getting so far along in the postseason. Despite Baker Mayfield’s best efforts, the Buccaneers fell to the Detroit Lions in the Divisional Round.

The quarterback could not believe it and after the game ended, he described what was going through his head after the loss. 

It sucks. I feel like my heart just got ripped out.

He accurately summed up the emotions of the entire team and fanbase.

Despite the team’s competitiveness on Sunday, the Lions were just better prepared and forced the Buccaneers to make mistakes on multiple occasions. Baker Mayfield‘s two interceptions cost the team dearly, but despite the setbacks, the quarterback continued to battle through the game.

Irrespective of tonight’s outcome, the Buccaneers should be happy. They did achieve something remarkable this season, and the team has found a quarterback who fits perfectly with the team. After Tom Brady left the Buccaneers, the team was struggling to remain hopeful as they were left scrambling in search of a quarterback.

It so happened that the Carolina Panthers decided to part ways with Mayfield at the time and Tampa Bay jumped at the chance to sign him. The Buccaneers were his last chance to prove himself in the NFL and he did just that. This year, the quarterback led the team to the top of the NFC South.

He made a solid case for himself to be crowned as the Comeback Player of the Year this season and made a deep playoff run. Despite their loss to the Lions, the team has the potential to fare well in the forthcoming seasons provided they improve that offensive line.
