“Hard to believe” Pat McAfee is dejected as teams didn’t want Tom Brady when he was available
Tom Brady is one of the greatest NFL players of all time. The QB has seven Super Bowl rings with teams like the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. So, it’s hard to believe when you find out that no one wanted Brady when he was about to leave from the Patriots.
Pat McAfee believed that Tom Brady had interest from numerous teams including the Chargers, Titans, Raiders and the Saints. McAfee also said that Brady was an ideal player who improves the squad financially and technically, a player of his calibre should be fought for and every team needs to adjust to accommodate him.
Recently, on UFC 278 Dana White revealed that Tom Brady was about to get transferred to the Las Vegas Raiders and head coach Jon Gruden pulled out at the last minute and Tom Brady wasn’t happy about it.
“I worked to put that deal together for Brady and Gronk to come to the Raiders.” Dana White said. “And it was almost a done deal. And at the last minute, Gruden blew the deal up and said that he didn’t want them.”
Dana White later revealed in a press conference that he was ‘not happy’ when the deal didn’t happen and thought he would never tell the story publicly.
“How come Gruden didn’t want Tom Brady”: Pat McAfee reacts to the news of Jon Gruden ‘supposedly’ rejecting the Bucs QB
When Jon Gruden was asked about the team’s interest in Tom Brady he said “We love our QB. Our QB is a really good player. Derek Carr. I want to reiterate that everybody in Vegas, we’ve got a good young QB, and the film, the analytics prove it.”
It was believed by Pat McAfee and everyone else in 2020 that Jon Gruden hated Derek Carr and was possibly looking for a replacement in Tom Brady. But this message came as a surprise to everyone. It was for everyone who thought about getting Brady into the Raiders camp.
Tom Brady was not happy about this decision and also took a shot at Derek Carr on HBO’s shop where he said “You’re sticking with that motherf***er?” Brady said on “The Shop.”
Either way, everything turned out for the best when Tom Brady joined the Bucs and won a Super Bowl with them in 2021.
