Fred Warner was right next to Dre Greenlaw when the inside linebacker was coming on following a punt return at Super Bowl LVIII. Warner witnessed his San Francisco 49ers teammate go down and was in agony.
Initially, like many, the 27-year-old was also confused as to what transpired right before his eyes. But that confusion soon turned into horror when the medical team ran onto the field to check on Greenlaw. He was then taken to the blue tent for further valuation.

A short while later, a cart came onto the field, and the San Francisco 49ers players’ worst nightmare came true. Dre Greenlaw suffered a non-contact injury while running onto the field. When he was being loaded onto the vehicle, the CBS camera panned toward the 49ers dugout and saw a sad Fred Warner.
Pass rusher Nick Bosa can be seen giving a tight hug and trying his best to cheer him up because they still needed to play in the Super Bowl. Warner was one of the few mic’d up for the occasion, so their conversation got captured.
Bosa told Warner:
Damn bro. We have to snap out of it for him... I am sorry, dude.Nick Bosa said
Warner replied, but his voice was jumbled up with sadness and shock.
It's alright, bro.Fred Warner replied
After Bosa left, Warner kneeled and prayed for Greenlaw’s speedy recovery. Head coach Kyle Shanahan later confirmed that the Arkansas graduate did suffer a torn Achilles.
Fred Warner provided an update on Dre Greenlaw’s situation
The 49ers eventually lost the Super Bowl 25-22 to the Kansas City Chiefs. It’s not rocket science since Greenlaw’s absence played a massive part. On Tuesday, Warner spoke with the media and revealed the state of mind of the 2019 fifth-round pick.

Warner said, as per the 49ers Webzone,
Obviously, he's [Greenlaw] down, but he has a good mindset about it. He's just eager to get the surgery done so he can get right into rehab and get back to work. I have no doubt in my mind that he'll come back better than he was.Fred Warner said
On Thursday, NFL insider Ian Rapoport revealed that Greenlaw’s surgery was successful. He will now concentrate on his rehab and be back before the OTA. Maybe take a few pages out of Aaron Rodgers‘ book.
2023 was arguably his best year since entering the NFL. He amassed 120 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and four pass breakups in 15 regular-season games.
