The Colorado vs. Colorado State rivalry has taken a new life. Under the leadership of their new head coach Deion Sanders, the Colorado Buffaloes have assembled a talented roster and are playing good football. They are currently facing one of their rivals, the Colorado State Rams, in the weekend.
During the game, the Colorado State DB Henry Blackburn laid a late hit on the Buffaloes’ star player Travis Hunter, which led their QB Shedeur Sanders to get involved in the middle.
During the first quarter of the game, the Buffaloes were trailing by 7 points and were facing 2nd and 10 around the midfield. Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders took a shot to his favorite target Travis Hunter, but slightly overthrew the pass. However, well after the incompletion, the Rams’ defensive back Henry Blackburn laid an unnecessary hard hit on Hunter near the Buffaloes’ sideline.
After the illegal hit, when Blackburn was walking away from Colorado’s sidelines, Sanders ran straight into Blackburn and exchanged a few words head-on. The referee pulled out the penalty flag as soon as Blackburn laid the hit and the Colorado State defender was penalized with a pass interference and unnecessary roughness.
However, to everyone’s surprise, Blackburn wasn’t evicted for the clear late hit and targeting. He continued to play in the game. Hunter was out of the game for the Buffaloes’ offensive drive, but he was back on the field when their defense was playing.
All week long, the rivalry has been brewing between both teams, even the head coaches had beef, and Deion Sanders said that the Rams head coach had made the game ‘personal’ with his comments about Prime Time’s attire.
