“He’s in good spirits, but…”: Robert Saleh gives an update on Zach Wilson’s injury
Zach Wilson
Zach Wilson is having a potential horrible start to the season. Wilson scrambled around the right side while making a run and went down untouched with 4:29 remaining in the first quarter against the Eagles.
Zach Wilson was having trouble walking properly and was favouring his right leg. It didn’t look good and didn’t feel good. The Jet’s season will be a mess if Wilson goes out for a long time. Though there was a silver lining in the preseason game, the Jets came off with a 24-21 win over the Eagles.
Coach Robert Saleh didn’t share a lot of information when asked about Zach Wilson’s injury. “We’re going to wait on the MRI,” Saleh said in a press conference. “I’m 0-fer, guys, with trying to decipher doctor language, so I’m just going to let the MRI play out, and we’ll figure it out tomorrow.”
“ACL is still intact.” “But again, let’s wait until the MRI,” Saleh added. “He’s in good spirits,” he’s fine. A little frustrated, obviously. But he’s as good as you can be in these situation.”
What’s next for the Jets?
Zach Wilson had a decent run in the first game where he went 3-for-5 for 23 yards and also made an interception. He was ultimately replaced by Mike White.
Joe Flacco is currently the No.2 QB in the team. Flacco has also undertaken the role of mentoring the young Zach Wilson. If the young QB goes out for a long time then Flacco will have to fill in the position in his stead and perform well.
The Jets will face the Falcons in their next preseason game. It will be interesting to see how they play without their No.1 QB.
