Football is one of the most physically demanding sports in the world. That is why football players are some of the toughest athletes in all of sports; they have to be. However, sometimes that toughness comes through outside the playing field. One such tough player is the Cleveland Browns‘ tight end David Njoku. He recently arrived at the Browns’ week 4 game against the Baltimore Ravens wearing a ‘Hallow Man’ mask. The reason for that was revealed later and it was a shocking one.

Njoku was reportedly involved in a scary “household incident” a couple of weeks ago. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, a backyard firepit was involved. The TE recently posted six photos on Instagram, revealing scary burns on his face. The timeline of when those pictures were taken is still unclear. He captioned the post as “Legacy.”

Njoku did not miss any playing time, however, as he played in the Browns’ loss against the Ravens. He led his team in receptions and receiving yards in that game. The Browns had a bye week, which allowed Njoku to nurse his face burns and get healthy. Fans on social media have applauded the courage of the tight end as he played through some severe pain.
