Rihanna has rocked this year’s Super Bowl show by taking center stage at Halftime this Sunday. She performed for the first time in seven years in this year’s Super Bowl, making it a much-anticipated concert for the fans.
Another reason for the frenzy amongst her fans and followers is the speculation of her being pregnant with her second child. Her representatives later confirmed this speculation that Riri was indeed expecting her second child, as per The Hollywood Reporter.
The NFL’s Super Bowl is well known as one of the most cash lucrative sporting events in the United States and worldwide. Stars such as Eminem, Dr. Dre, Paul McCartney, and Beyonce have all performed in the Super Bowl Halftime show, one of the biggest platforms for artists to perform a show in front of millions watching.
A question that lingers in the fans’ minds is how much halftime performers like Rihanna and other performers get paid for shows and performances. Well, truth be told, they get paid nothing. NFL does cover the expenses for the production of the show. However, the artists individually do not receive any such cheques themselves.
How much cost did NFL incur for headlining Rihanna for the Super Bowl LVII Halftime show?
While the NFL did not have to pay any amount or sum to Rihanna for her performance, they did have to incur the production costs for her performance during the Halftime show. For example, when Jennifer Lopez and Shakira performed in the Half time show, NFL had to incur a cost of $13 million, accounting for audio, technical, staging crew, and equipment.
Furthermore, the NFL also pays the travel and living expenses of the artists coming to the venue. However, no individual cheques are provided to the artists for their performances. The reasoning behind this is the high exposure the artists will receive from their performance at the show.
Lady Gaga, who performed in the Super Bowl 2017 Halftime show, had a 1000 percent skyrocket in her album and song sales after her performance. Furthermore, other performers such as Shakira and Jennifer Lopez saw a 2.3 million follower growth after their incredible performances. Dr. Dre, who performed last year, saw a 183 percent rise in album sales and a 105 percent hike in on-demand streams.
This performance marked the return of Queen Riri to the center stage after releasing her new song ‘Lift Me Up’ from the album Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, in 2022, after a gap of six years. Furthermore, this was her first Super Bowl performance, putting her amongst an elite league of performers to have taken that center stage.
Rihanna said of her performing in Super Bowl, “I felt like it was now or never for me. The Super Bowl is one of the biggest stages in the world. It’s an entertainer’s dream to be on a stage like that.”
Rihanna’s performance has taken the internet by storm and is the hottest topic for discussion on every social media platform. Fans are gushing over her aura and the glamour she showed during her incredible show this Super Bowl LVII.
