Cowboys GM Jerry Jones had an interesting strategy to utilize Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard. Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard both are RBs for the Cowboys.

Jerry Jones gave an all-revealing interview to Stephen A Smith where he spoke about how he likes where the team is currently though the offensive players will have to take responsibility to perform better if they want to achieve anything this season.

Ezekiel Elliott was getting a lot of stick from Stephen A Smith over his drop of form and Jerry Jones had an instant reply for that. “Zeke was an all-time leader, running with the football while being hurt, playing the position being hurt.” Jerry Jones said on ESPN’s first take.

The Cowboys GM also specified that Ezekiel Elliott is probably in the best shape of his life and this season he has added protection with him. Elliott was drafted in 2016 and since then he has been a quality RB for the Cowboys. He has 56 career TDs, nearly 7,400 rushing yards, and he’s 370 yards shy of 10,000 career scrimmage yards. Elliott also is a two-time All-Pro and three-time Pro-Bowler who’s led the NFL in rushing twice.

“Tony Pollard is our wild-card”: Jerry Jones has different plans to utilize the RB this season.

Elliott and Pollard both play in the same position in the team but are completely different players. Elliott uses strength whereas Pollard is a more swift and fast player.

Maybe Jerry Jones has decided to play the two RB together or he will keep switching them to optimize the team’s output. But he has stated openly that Elliott is the player that the Cowboys want to move forward with.

Tony Pollard can provide a decent backup option, though he doesn’t get as much game time as Zeke but still manages to produce decent numbers. If the Cowboys can implement a plan to use both the RBs then it will be a job well done for them.

The Dallas Cowboys will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the first game of the NFL 2022 season.
