The Kansas City Chiefs led by their star quarterback Patrick Mahomes secured their first victory of the 2023 NFL season as they defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. The Chiefs outscored the Jaguars 17-9 to register their first victory in the ongoing season. During the game, the Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce scored a touchdown, leading to some brilliant Taylor Swift reference from the commentators.
During the third quarter of the game, the Chiefs were leading 7-6 and were facing 3rd down and 3 from the Jaguars’ 9-yard line. Patrick Mahomes, who took a low snap from his center, scrambled out of the pocket and connected with his favorite target, Kelce, for a 9-yard touchdown to extend the lead by six points.
After Kelce caught the floater for the touchdown, the CBS broadcaster Ian Eagle couldn’t help but spill out a Taylor Swift reference. “Touchdown! Travis Kelce. . . KELCE FINDS A BLANK SPACE FOR THE SCORE!” exclaimed during the live broadcast of the game on the CBS network.
The not so subtle Swift reference comes just a few days after rumors started to float about the Chiefs tight end and the Grammy Award-winning artist quietly hanging out together. Initially, Swift turned down Kelce’s attempt to give the “Love Story” singer his number via friendship bracelets.
But later, reports suggested that Kelce and Swift were hanging out together. Nonetheless, neither the singer nor the Chiefs player have publicly commented about the relationship rumors.
