The former Buccaneers QB Tom Brady recently announced his decision to retire from football after dominating the sport for more than two decades. His sudden yet unsurprising decision to walk away from the game at 45 years of age left the Bucs fans in an unhappy mood. But the Buccaneers players are feeling the opposite way according to an NFL Insider.

This is the second time Tom Brady retired from football. Last off-season, the 15-time Pro Bowler retired from the sport just to make a comeback after a month. But his last season didn’t go as well as he would’ve hoped. In 2022, Brady had his first losing season as a starter in his 23-year-long career. However, somehow, Brady and the Buccaneers managed to win the NFC South division and claimed a playoff spot.

Brady and the Bucs were humiliated by the Dallas Cowboys in the first round of the 2022 NFL postseason. And a few weeks after the embarrassment, the 4-time All-Pro QB announced his retirement with a small video on social media. His retirement put the Buccaneers in a tough situation as they had to find their new QB in the off-season.

The Buccaneers have signed the former LA Rams QB Baker Mayfield to a one-year deal and are reportedly looking to draft a QB on the second or third day of the 2023 NFL Draft. Amidst this situation in Tampa Bay, a well-renowned NFL insider claims that the Bucs players are relieved to see the back of the seven-time Super Bowl Champion Tom Brady.

The Pro Football Talk insider Mike Florio claims the Buccaneers players are relieved that Tom Brady’s no longer the signal-caller in Tampa Bay during his recent appearance on the WDAE sports radio station.

“What a mess of distractions last year with everything that was going on with Brady,” Florio said. “And to be free from that, to be beyond that, I think there’s going to be a lot of [Bucs] who are relieved, and rejuvenated and recharged this year. They’re not going to come out and say it, but I think they’re going to feel it, and I think that’s good for the Buccaneers.”

Brady, who was in the middle of a divorce process from Gisele Bündchen, faced a lot of adversity off-the-field which affected his performance on the field. Now that he’s retired, Florio believes the Bucs players would be able to just focus on the game.
