The Jacksonville Jaguars‘ former 1st overall pick Trevor Lawrence is ready to lead his franchise to the playoff season once again. The Jaguars are pretty set on the QB position but it seems like they also have another talented QB on their roster as their 3rd stringer Nathan Rourke made a mindblowing play in their preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys.

On Saturday, the Jaguars defeated the Cowboys in their first preseason game. The Jaguars gave playing minutes to many of their starting talents including their star QB Lawrence and running back Travis Etienne. But it was their 3rd string signal-caller Nathan Rourke that left a major good impression among fans.

During the final minutes of the 4th quarter, the Jaguars had a 6-point lead and faced a 3rd and 16 from the Cowboys 21-yard line. Rourke, a former Canadian Football League player impressively evaded 4 defenders and threw a 21-yard touchdown pass while being tackled down to the ground by a Cowboys’ defensive player.

“It’s a bit of a blur,” Rourke told John Oehser of the team’s website about the play after the game. “I just knew I needed to have a little bit of time, to buy some time. It was a longer route. We had to buy some time to be able to get a completion and then had to buy some time in the pocket. Qadree did a really good job with the scramble rules and I just tried to give him a chance. I’m glad it worked out.”

His tough playmaking style and resilience impressed a lot of people. Th 25-year-old QB received praise from the Jaguars’ head coach Doug Pederson and franchise signal-caller Trevor Lawrence.
